It Couldn’t Happen to Me….9/11

How often we look at others, our eyes turn down, for a moment or two, as we try to digest what it feels like, or how lucky we feel, it wont happen to me, they don’t seem too well, how could they cope with it, their loss our escape, lucky us, how long do we read the news from afar, the casualty list, the numbers, do we think of families or is it our luck we are sizing up, lucky me. How lives can change with dramatic affect, for all time. Solomon recalled the morning news, all those years before, the seeming animated picture, this could not be real, not live on TV, it has to be a computer generation, then the reality a minute later, that’s real people, that was real jet fuel, that is real life and it’s before the eyes of the world. How one day can alter so much. History teaches us, anything can happen, and old scripture reminds us, there is another life.

Solomon listened to the news, the anniversary, the where were you moment as it were, and the decisions made afterwards, to start a war, and the results thereafter, when the call for a great peace was lost in the big talk, we’ll get even, regardless of the cost, the soldiers return home years later, shell shocked, the desire for guns increasing daily, the nationalistic calls, revenge and security, we have the power. The Roman empire wanted to dominate the world through force, or fear, God had other plans, the memorials still exist, to remind us, war does not work, it only leads to worse.

Mothers, fathers brothers sisters, when did revenge do it for you, or what did revenge do for you; usualy caused more need for guns, and the mentality that using force brings, hatred usually, amen. Jesus pleaded forgiveness, knew how our thoughts are formed, the baggage that destroys, those bitter memorires that you save up, for that great moment, same as the viagra hidden in the shaving bag, for use when you could not do it yourself, but there in the bag, in order to save your pride. Well, in a world thar that wants immediate satisfaction, there are no buffer zones, or patience. Amen

Moses and the Burning Bush

Lightning, the sky lights up, from nowhere, a bolt of light descends from the Sky, air traffic control that was close, missed by inches, a loud crack, the terror and screams nearby, it could have hit us. Solomon listened to the news, he was burning the green at the time, then heard the news, could it be real, the earth was on fire,

fire it seems. If a healthy environment is our get out of jail card, then everyone on the planet was getting a reminder, and as in olden times, when God chose to use a burning bush to communicate with his Prophet, many thousands of years later, the same was happening again. There were those bent on the destruction of the living environment for real short term gain, as if we hadn’t enough palm oil already.

Yes, the various environments needed support; the creator could only do so much, our free will does the rest, choices. A student of the ancient texts and striving to get a clearer impression of what it all means, Solomon thought the timing of the burning bush was apt, given that some world Leaders were meeting together, and talk was of the burning bush, not that it was meant to appear on the agenda, but when fire rages, who can afford to ignore it. Imagine, they meet up, discuss, never once wondering, if the fate of the burning bush, was a clear message to them, well, leaders lead, they don’t build castles in the sky.

Thirty thousand feet, the engine wobbles, everyone on the jet trembles, former certainty wanes, could this happen to us as well, yes it could sighed Solomon. Stories such as Moses and the burning bush, are there to remind us, of the many ways God communicates with us; this is a living planet and it does not belong to you, amen.

Old Boy Blues

This can’t be happening Cardinal, it does not appear in any of our texts, it seems to be from the other Book, they don’t want to mention the word, why, it will mean extending their vision of compassion, it’s a touchy subject and they have got used to control, why would they ever dream of ever giving up that. You mean we are not the only ones, the setting, can’t you see it, 2,000 years earlier, the same argument between the Pharisee’s, as they gather to discuss the words of Jesus, anxious that he is getting a hearing and the crowds, worse still, they are listening to him, and he is even doing what the divine can only do, or is it demons.

The thought of eating without the ritual cleaning, and all sorts of food is fine with him, damn it, if this is allowed to go on, it’s going to make our rules and regulations meaningless, how did we allow it they sigh. Power, the old problem, and the zealots who are certain of their authority, enforceable authority, able at will, to undermine, well, when you imagine it, they put Jesus on the cross, hoping it was the ending of him, little did they know, it was only the beginning, and it’s being growing ever since, The Power of Spirit, and how it works to overcome the instincts that destroy us. Old boy blues, how can they explain this?.

Solomon sighed, the sun bursts from the Sky, the approval from on High, and no set of rules to coral it, just sweet simplicity. The old men could be discussing the fate of Joan of Arc, it could be anyone of Great Spirit, what happens, as Jesus said, they murdered the prophets and then afterwards, praised them. He was reading a book, the green cup of wisdom, words in the Islam Holy Book, is mentioned in the story, as for other words, they prophecy the Return of Jesus, too. In the end, the goal is the same, there are those who hold the words on high and repeat them, and there are those who acknowledge them, but don’t follow them, in the middle, the Wisdom of Jesus, solves all problems, for those who use them, same as good medication, taken with care, amen.

The Living Spirit

You don’t put in a box and take it out Sundays, it’s not a darn car, the Living Spirit, how often had it been said, you don’t put if off and leave it for special occasions and celebrations, it’s a daily thing. it’s not a woman either, or a date on a Friday night, dressing up, extra face paint or a clean shirt, it’s none of that either. They looked at him, Solomon sighed, I would be looking too if you only knew, the Spirit was alive inside him, and it came with reminders, There is a God, how often do we forget that, he sighs, why do we cart all that baggage with us, a memory he sighed. He was trying to explain the meaning of Spirit, how active and powerful it is, and the respect it demands.

It’s the people you meet along the way, the other souls you meet, how do you treat them, do you look away and ignore them, or do you give them a lift. They looked at him, their heads shaking, who is this man, Solomon did too. All he needed to know, there is a Heavenly Power, you raise the Spirit and get a track record, and they will never forget you.

The Season of lent, what was he giving up, he had so little he could hardly pay the rent. Did they remember the vows they swore the day before, same as those action movies, you forget the story and remember the celebrities. Supposed to be the other way around, the darn story, not the celebrity. The old scriptures, fast from being mean and resentful, there is enough bias in the world to fill the darn Atlantic ocean. So many things they want to know, no wonder Jesus gave out to the apostles, they even complained when he was nice to women, amen.

Solomon sighed, the desert, where he found space, he was far from that, get away and free the Spirit, he pressed the button, and let the voice in, sweet soul music. a half hour of inner peace, the cheapest form of therapy on earth, good music….such as Ray…

Nature and the Human Mind

Can we sell it, well I guess they tried, are there those who try to distract us, what do you think, the two souls are at the zoo, in the bird zone, they are there in response to a question the child answered, it made the old guy laugh, and that does not happen often enough. He was teaching his grandson, trying to make himself useful, after all, the boys mother, his daughter, was providing him, the old man, with the shelter he needed, and if he needed reminding, it was cold outside, he could feel the warm heat, not daring to go outside, so he decided to teach the young child.

“A humming bird is a chick the sings”  smiled the little boy, his eyes turned sideways, he half glances up at his grand dad, wondering what will be the expression in his eyes. It bears a smile as he well knows, but the assurance of having someone older with all the right answers, was and is a luxury few have these days. Grand dad laughs,

“you mean one of those girls on the TV who sing,”

the little boy nods. It’s the days end, mother comes in the door, spots her father teaching her son, he is in good hands. A week later they are at the zoo, all because of the sweet little humming bird.

Nature sighed Solomon, there was a need for a greater awareness, the numbers didn’t lie, he thinks of the boy and the hummingbird, when they get it young, it always pays off.

More Valued Than Gold…

Mavis is laughing, her gummy mouth is in the shape of an arc, She can’t believe her nephew’s story, he is not sure how to re act, I just got the sack and she is laughing. It’s the first time she heard something so silly, it brings her back to a time, they were part of a crowd, all girls, Elvis had come to town, boy she wished she’d legs worth looking at. God can do anything, she hears the voice, did you say something, Jimmy shakes his head, raises his eyebrows, the old dear is losing her head, it won’t be long now he sighs to himself. Mavis listens to the voice in her head, she can’t stop smiling, is it you she sighs, she recalls her deceased husband, jimmy assumes she is totally loosing it, well, something they have in common, both on the loosing side.

It’s mid day, the trolley girl comes in, Mavis your looking an awful lot better she says, Mavis smiles. He’s my nephew she says, her voice clear, and precise, not the usual slow hiss. Marion, the nurse, looks at Jimmy, you have a talent for waking the Spirit, maybe you have a talent for that she says. She is cute he thinks, he is nearly afraid to look her in the eye, they might ban him from the old folks home, he gets over the thought, Maybe that is not a bad idea he replies, I just lost my job…

Mavis hears the voice in her head, God Most High can do anything, you just have to believe.
