Finding Redemption

She sits at their kitchen table, has been speaking with their friends, her lawyer too, she has caught him cheating, she is waiting for him to come in the door, their santuary has melted before her eyes, the cocoon they built, was it all lies, I trusted him with my happiness, and now it’s all about to disintegrate. Her life is over, she is barely forty. The time I invested in him, worse, the other men she gave up for him, the career she set aside, maybe that is an excuse, another reason to hate him, we all strecth the truth, sanctimonious, who isn’t. How she liked fixing their meals, the list gets bigger. So many things she overlooked, the stuff she put up with, inside she tells herself she is perfect, well, he was the one who thrashed the relationship. There is the sound of a car in the drive, she fills the wine glass before he comes in, she doesn’t want him to have one. She is angry.

I’m home he says, she hears his voice in the hall, he has no idea that she knows, or what is ahead of him. He drops the keys on the counter, I’ll open another one he says with a smile, he needs a friend, he is looking at the bottle, it’s empty, why the silence he says, he is full of himself, a great day at the office and two weeks off as a result. I know she says, what, they have told you already, that’s quick. He fetches a glass sits down beside her, why the gloom he says, she is prone to depression, he doesn’t rile her, she gets over it within an hour, she has been that way, since she lost the baby.

It’s only your imagination he says, when she confronts him, he understands, she has not been feeling well these last few months, it’s easy to understand. Compassion, he is a patient man.

Ten Years

Must I live with confusion all around, even the news, it’s weird sometimes, and they repeat it every hour, have we lost of minds he says, the child psychiatrist nods his head, he is paid to listen. Did they give you mobile phones in your day asks the kid, he is being smart, he already knows the answer: if anyone in those times offered one to a small child, they’d probably be arrested, the expert nods, he is paid to listen, how about time with your parents, i bet they spent time with you, the expert nods, this kid has a lot of questions, and is doing all the talking, how about the fear of guns in schools, i bet you never had that either, the expert nods, yep, yep, yep, how about the pressure of bullying on your mobile, you never had that, the psychiatrist nods, well son, in our days, we bullied face to face, how did it feel asks the kid, no one likes it says the expert, then why can’t anyone do anything about asks the kid, human nature the expert says.

He is getting tired of all the accusations, this child is right, and I suppose addiction wasn’t as common place as now, the expert nods, he is now the one getting the education. As for money, you can print that stuff, the expert nods, yes we can, and all those wars that started over oil, what was that about, it only made enemies of ours all over the world. The expert checks the time, when is my next appointment he says, the kid consults his diary, I’m free

Friday after three, but it has to be quick, there is a ball game i have to watch, my father is playing in it. Ten years, should have stayed a kid a little longer.

Solomon smiled, children teach us so much, just as was said over 2,000 years ago. What next.

The Party at the Inn

She is going through the list, who will she invite. She is very particular, doesn’t want to offend her guests, doesn’t want to upset anyone, mostly herself, it’s an image she has to protect, so she tells herself. The cost of it going wrong, she could lose the friendships of those who can help, her career is all that matters, the money is pouring in, and her manager wants to ensure it keeps that way. He deftly reminds her, the maintenance costs alone are staggering dear, and you love to swim in the pool, she does she admits, things, they can keep her occupied.

She checks the list, all are well to do, there is no need to be embarrassed, everyone will get along fine, she passes the list to her manager for approval, well, he has steered her well so far, she is busier than Elvis in her prime, besides, she had thrown a few dollars into the shelter, a few turkeys and boxes of sweets, they’ll think it Christmas, and she will give her ego a kick.

He reads the statement, the transfer overseas, the pension fund he reminds himself, the accountant is going to get a bonus, the fund is out performing the best estimates, it’s gravy all around. He reads the invitation, another of those parties, he wonders if he will bother, thinks twice, there might be a few worth networking around.

Is it all they do, count money, measure, size up, have they heart, is there any

spirit in them, Solomon imagined God Most High listening to the goings on, the pride and the foolishness of it all, no thought given to the eternal. Some party though….

A knock at the door, the butler purses his lips, she couldn’t possibly know this person, too shabby, and the face, drawn, I’m Mary, she says, a man stands at the gate, she has a bump, move on says the butler, madame has no time for you, he points to a shelter down the road, that’s where your type go. Solomon sighed, was the story of old all about the well being of Spirit, and the welcome it could look forward to, just imagine it…. isn’t a pity it’s only a crisis when there is no way out and never before, damn, wheres the party..?

New Year Wishes

“The list, is that the new years eve moment, when we all want it good, a little typsy, reaching out, hugging strangers, getting messy and having no memory of it in the morning,”

S

he is asking the old prophet, they are having a coffee, she is young and ideal, is going to change the world, she dances to pay for tuition, has a strong energy, and the old prophet knows it. If he was a younger man, his interest might be in the lower regions, but he has learned too, has seen many lost moments, he wants to use his mistakes to guide her, he has had many new year moments that never lasted.

More coffee he says, the waitress is passing by. Did he leer at her, she is anxious of the world, there is too much talk of all that is upsetting in the media, everyone is catching it, old men and young girls, she soon forgets, the coffee arrives.

“there are so many causes and so many directions to go in, some are deliberately misleading, that’s for you to decide, as in old times, people were led astray, and the needs of families and their lives even, made them follow unstable leaders, but we have the wisdom of those times, even in times of great distress, it might seem an awful thing, but it’s often a listening and learning time, it happens to stop you in your tracks,”

She nods, is a little confused, what is he trying to say…

“in a nutshell, rise the well being of loving Spirit, that makes it easier on everyone good, and those trying to find the light, once you practice it awhile, wisdom will come to you, and when she does, stay in the zone!”

They part company, she is young, will ponder on it, his words, till they meet the coming week.

Road to Perdition

It was wisdom in the beginning, then the customs were added like gems to a ring finger, the more they added the more envy it caused, soon they had to use the other fingers, more customs and more jealousy flowed, the wrist came next, then up the arms, till all that sparkled was the customs, which they

then made into laws, burdening mankind ever since.

Failure to listen, was a regular warning of Jesus, particularly to those in charge. He encountered those trying to discourage him, who even planned on killing him, for challenging the customs they turned into laws. It was as simple as love he said, it wasn’t complicated, it was a living thing, you did it or you didn’t.

Years later, on the road to perdition, the voyagers, sticks in hand, walk the thorny path, going to this shrine and that, just to remind themselves, how lucky they were. A little bit of home comfort, would it not have been an awful lot wiser, going to far away places, pilgrimage, call it a holiday and tell the truth, they built walls between the Kingdom of God and the masses, it was time to admit their mistakes. Solomon say the signs, others too, there were many boats, but in his heart, he saw few of them floating, amen.

Living in the Head

Do you often feel as if the opinions of others matter more than what you actually think, living in the head as it’s called, someone arrives, has something you want or fear, could be cash, could be a threat, others find them important, always repeating what they said, imposing their ideas, until you can’t think of anything else, as if someone else is living in your head. Solomon sighed, it sounds as if it’s a mind game, getting the better of someone, the pose, the stance, the framing of ideas, until all you can think of, is where do you fit in it all, and so that becomes your life, it’s the same as trying to find a parking space on a busy Saturday, going round in circles, till exhausted, you take the first spot available. The pressure is applied emotionally, your work buddies, you think you can’t be honest, you will only upset everyone else, and who wants to be ostracized anyway.

Solomon was reminding himself, how extremists were always trying to push the buttons, trying to cause over reaction, doing whatever to unhinge the well being of most. He had news for those of such thinking, the extreme element type, There is a God Most High, and the radar is on them. A short prayer he sighed, then every call from the heart is exactly that, amen.

Ministry of Sounds

Can’t sound it, sound, action to her, affects inner harmony, will I get up, she glances at her I-phone. To others it seems extravagant, to her a diagnostic tool, she’s a locum. Irritating, will I.  Her shift starts in, she dips her eyes on the phone, she is precise, a trainee surgeon, doing the steps. Her fingers are long and graceful. Where they have been; last evening, inside the chest of an elderly man, noise disappears, music again, continues reading. She lives in a three room, ignoring the bathroom; everyone has one of those, as vital as a healthy rectum.
