Violence

There are rules teacher, these are the rules, Jesus looked at the assembly of men, the women were at home. They’d gathered to enforce their rules; she was deemed an adulterer, her punishment, death by stoning. Their rules sighed Jesus, will they ever learn the power of forgiveness. The rabbi (Mullah, Priest, observer) puts on a solemn face, when explaining what her crime was. Jesus listens, nods his head, while scanning the crowd. The stoning is about to begin. Bundles of rocks have been gathered; the woman weeps while tied to a post, awaiting the first missile. Her crime, their shame.

The law that inflicts violence, from human to human is not of God, it is of man. Jesus steps into the arena, puts up his hand, knows all about the gathering, knows their failings, knows that the Spirit gives him the power to touch hearts. When he asks them to continue if they are clean themselves, they walk away, till all there is left is the woman. He then dismisses her, Go away woman and don’t do it again.

Violence, the threat, and those that have that power, the way that they use it. He goes to the gym, is big, flexes his muscles, lets them all know, he has power. She is the married woman, waiting. Her husband learned it from the way his own father treated his mother, assumes its normal, violence. No one opens their mouths or disagrees in this house. How many religions were like that; people afraid to speak up in case they offend the powerful ones. Solomon wondered if they understood that the violent mentality, was a habit passed on. Jesus is urging them to forgive others, was saying in affect, this is what you have to do, unless you want hatred to continue, amen.

If many of the religious minded were actual believers, and so called followers of Jesus, wasn’t it time they adapted his ways then?

Who is Your Neighbour

The button on the machine is depressed, a message is sent across the world, your response to an appeal, a conscience effort to lend a hand, the lifting of a spirit, the guidance of a friend. The world is border less when it comes to friends, same can be said as regards to love, the same Spirit exists that has existed for all those years. It was and is the promise of Jesus, God is in you, yes, God is in you, and it’s why the body of Christ is made up of all those combined spirits, it’s not about one, it’s about becoming one with love, border less. and when that happens, miracles and blessings become a flow, in response to that effort to love. Solomon was reading the news, nurture the spirit, as he did, he saw a bunch of smiling children play effortlessly, no fear no anxiety no stressed glances, no squint eyed gazes, no hard looks, an openness, the heart flowing. The picture he saw, reminded him of what an old writer now deceased had once said. He was a survivor of the death camps, don’t let them steal your spirit and reduce you to nothing. Added together, Great Spirit is all of us. In 2017, if there was one thing we ought to do, it was simply this, make that great spirit stronger. If you do, all of us will live in a safer world, amen.

Happy New Times

new world, old guard in runs, real love ascending, change happening, prayers answered, children smiling, few avoiding, honesty to the fore, thoughtfulness, titans turned into babbling fools, no more of more of the same, signs of the awakening everywhere, amen. Words write the future, make your dream the widest, and catch all the others as well. Solomon

understood the power of words. The prayers of Isaiah reminding him, amen.

breakfast in Damascus

main course falling rubble on a bed of flesh,

followed by children out of breath

families on the move and in fear

world looks on leftovers please

up close it’s cold and personal

from afar protesters rally on

they complain and frown

watch while it goes down

mixed groups dreams and power

confused leaders afraid to act

all sides beckon them in

a Damascus breakfast

power hungry and grim
