Give Thanks – a re blog

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day; yesterday’s post is still on my mind. I’m grateful for the poem that was in me, grateful for words to tell you about this episode in my professional life, and grateful to be who I was and still am. A tough old cookie. A highly sensitive and intuitive wise woman. A […]

The Soul Train

You mean all that stuff is true he asked, the soul train is a connection of working souls, joined together in common purpose, they accept the wisdom of God smiled the old man. The young boy looked at the old man, haggard and worn, the night was cold and the dark was closing in. On his way back from the store, he encountered this lively man with the light eyes. The boy stopped, the old man was seated on a bench, was shivering from the conditions, another long night and the hope of tomorrow, a maybe.

Where you going to stay for the night he asked? The old man smiled, i’ll find a place, on the soul train replied the boy. They made their way down the street, there was a shed out the back of the house, neat and free from the chill, it won’t matter spoke the boy, who told the old man it was going to be fine, he might even be getting a bowl of soup. A blanket, a pillow, a space for the night, the soul train continued that evening, in the heart of the boy that cared. When did you meet me Lord, it was the question that would be on the lips of everyone who asked him

, amen.

JFK

A handful of observers in Vietnam, a desire for a more open America, a disdain for the so called experts, and an appreciation and time for his Children, and then a bullet to the head, after which there was an unleashing of a plot, aimed at controlling our very world. How many years ago, this very evening, on the eve of that eventful trip,

he was sitting down with his children, whom he adored, a real family man, not an organisational flunk, whose only desire was power, had a deep disregard for the lobbyists, and thought that all presidential contenders should be state funded, given a budget to fight it out, leading to a better form of democracy. In the meantime, the arms industry flourished, the nuclear threat gathered force, and righteous leaders across the world were got rid of, all in his absence. Warned the world in a variety of ways, and what do we have, 54 years after his murder, a world on the brink. The men behind his murder, have left a legacy many never could get over, but at least JFK, left us with the hope, there are actually people who think there is a better way, amen.

All About me

no one more important,

than little old me i guess,

only time i go and protest,

when it’s all about me,

the dealer in the neighborhood,

they live so far away,

the pointing of the fingers,

way over there you see,

and as per the usual,

nothing ever gets done,

til it happens i guess,

to poor little me!

don’t it make you wonder,

Pioneers

Pioneering spirit, the waves of soul, climbed unforgiving hills, some made some not, but those who lost, made it for others, someone goes first, someone makes it, sets the others free, and some are just lucky. Whatever, character can’t be bought, it is made. And Faith can’t be faked, many have tried, this we have to believe. In crisis you’ll discover, if it’s real.

Solomon was reading about early pioneering spirit, souls from all over the world, converged in a new land, seeking freedom and hopefully prosperity, their steps sometimes the first, not that they were first, the natives having been there years, from all across the continent, north and south, east and west, and the natives all believed in great spirit.

What was a god send for some, a nightmare for the natives, as the pioneers brought modernism, new mechanisms for solving disputes, and the habits that they grew up with. There were many lessons to be learned. Many cultures and wisdoms brushed aside. Forgiveness was badly in need of exercise. The resentments many carried inside them.

It was no surprise that it all came back to old teaching, every dispute, anger, envy, it was laid out in a very simple way. Solomon reflected upon what Faith was, a real time gift that you could not purchase, just trust me was all he said, how true those words in the context of what was happening, marry yourself to love, but like those storms, it can sometimes get rough.

Jesus cross’s the sea of Galilee, it’s wild weather and stormy, his companions wake him up suddenly, what now he thinks, perhaps in the middle of a great dream or simply a rest, no, it’s not going to sink, putsIMG_5757 his head back down and shrugs, what do I have to do next. St. Paul gets shipwrecked, ends up where he’s supposed to be. Solomon gets crushed in his car, changes the landscape of his life, you just have to believe and forgive..

Pushers

get him off the scent,

peace is doing harm,

can’t sell those arms,

sales down everywhere,

when’s the last good war,

damn it he’s meddling,

get rid of that love,

murder,

assassination,

control,

dictatorships,

poverty,

IMG_5757they all flowed,

from the decisions,

of a select force,

wonder about it,

the man in the sky,

marking them all,
