Preacher Girl

A mountain top, the voice, alone, all seeing, the overview, from the preacher girl. Another leader, another controversy, history, what did we learn, the fears that come with change. The Smoking habit is cut, he looks at her, what do you mean by that, well, I am a preacher woman she says. He gets an idea in his head, healing in one hand, the book of wisdom., the cigarette and the ash that falls from the other.

He wonders if it’s for real, he lives a busy life, survival does for most, tomorrow will look after itself. He listens, she is open, her words are sharp, is this the voice of a partner or a tyrant, he tries to catch her attention, she has to go back to the original. No idols to begin with, those we tear down, compassion, if we don’t practice it, we can’t pass it on, as for judging others, we need to look into the mirror. Eventually we will see something we like, a trait, a good decision.

I’m hardcore she says, he listens, she does not allow space for interruption. He is not fault finding, he is listening. There are a few things she doesn’t know about him, he wonders if that helps. You have to do more listening, we all do, preacher girl.

Finding Redemption

She sits at their kitchen table, has been speaking with their friends, her lawyer too, she has caught him cheating, she is waiting for him to come in the door, their santuary has melted before her eyes, the cocoon they built, was it all lies, I trusted him with my happiness, and now it’s all about to disintegrate. Her life is over, she is barely forty. The time I invested in him, worse, the other men she gave up for him, the career she set aside, maybe that is an excuse, another reason to hate him, we all strecth the truth, sanctimonious, who isn’t. How she liked fixing their meals, the list gets bigger. So many things she overlooked, the stuff she put up with, inside she tells herself she is perfect, well, he was the one who thrashed the relationship. There is the sound of a car in the drive, she fills the wine glass before he comes in, she doesn’t want him to have one. She is angry.

I’m home he says, she hears his voice in the hall, he has no idea that she knows, or what is ahead of him. He drops the keys on the counter, I’ll open another one he says with a smile, he needs a friend, he is looking at the bottle, it’s empty, why the silence he says, he is full of himself, a great day at the office and two weeks off as a result. I know she says, what, they have told you already, that’s quick. He fetches a glass sits down beside her, why the gloom he says, she is prone to depression, he doesn’t rile her, she gets over it within an hour, she has been that way, since she lost the baby.

It’s only your imagination he says, when she confronts him, he understands, she has not been feeling well these last few months, it’s easy to understand. Compassion, he is a patient man.

A Little Love Goes a Long way…

She holds her heart, hasn’t opened it in years, the memories comeback, the fear, was it something she experienced as a girl, did the heart get wiped out too often, does she bypass it. The boy is young smart and clever, has great dreams, has experienced estacy, the thrill of the inside, that nothing but confidence can give, I did that, it was me, he grows in stature, he is becoming a man. She runs in the door, the news, she can’t believe it, the news is shattering, so good too, why did it happen to me, it is the tsunami moment, everything she holds dear has been washed away, why me. How life can twist in a single moment, the glimpse of love, and how you can’t resist, the moments that make life worth remembering, a little goes a long way as they say.

Solomon sighed, his heart was full of the thrill, amazing things were happening, not that he had much to do with it, The Spirit that was given to him, and what it has inspired in him, a gift that is truly divine. He watches the flowers pass down the street, there is a feeling of spring, new life, so many hearts were opening, something great is happening. Why be surprised he sighed, in the past, so many cultures reported the same thing, after a disaster or seeming disaster, someone wise comes along. Yes, it was just as Jesus has said, the helper always arrives, just open your heart, and let the light in, it’s that simple, amen.

Don’t give up, you never know who is beside you, any given day!

Nature and the Human Mind

Can we sell it, well I guess they tried, are there those who try to distract us, what do you think, the two souls are at the zoo, in the bird zone, they are there in response to a question the child answered, it made the old guy laugh, and that does not happen often enough. He was teaching his grandson, trying to make himself useful, after all, the boys mother, his daughter, was providing him, the old man, with the shelter he needed, and if he needed reminding, it was cold outside, he could feel the warm heat, not daring to go outside, so he decided to teach the young child.

“A humming bird is a chick the sings”  smiled the little boy, his eyes turned sideways, he half glances up at his grand dad, wondering what will be the expression in his eyes. It bears a smile as he well knows, but the assurance of having someone older with all the right answers, was and is a luxury few have these days. Grand dad laughs,

“you mean one of those girls on the TV who sing,”

the little boy nods. It’s the days end, mother comes in the door, spots her father teaching her son, he is in good hands. A week later they are at the zoo, all because of the sweet little humming bird.

Nature sighed Solomon, there was a need for a greater awareness, the numbers didn’t lie, he thinks of the boy and the hummingbird, when they get it young, it always pays off.

Free From The Rest or is it Free from the nest….

No longer under the thumb, they gather in secret, they can say what is on their mind, no lobby is going to cull them, no one is going to report their words, no one is going to hear them sing, the underground cave, it’s a wine bar, free he said, the guy who seemed to be in charge was high, so he wasn’t in charge, but he was, if that is possible, well, the little bird jumps from the nest, she finds herself on stage, words and music, a lifetimes goal, I can do this, inside a deep sense of joy, did it, wow was she nervous as she floated her boat, confidence, she didn’t plant the tree, and those branches over there, the other safe places, they just seem to appear, who designed it that way, could it happen by accident.

The need to escape families, no, not the movement or flagship movement, just the simple prejudice. the opinions you have to grow up with, it’s hard to turn away, your emotionally bound, your afraid to hurt them, and as you get older ,well, they can interfere with your prospects, some get violent, it’s not easy being free, suppose that’s why there is a need for artists, to allow wisdom and fresh thinking to fly. You did this for me she says, her eyes are glassy, she doesn’t fully understand, just listening is often enough with a free mind. How many got their lives curtailed just for having opinions.

Solomon was reflecting, there were so many cards on the global table, old arguments and resentments, harboured fears, propaganda fed to so many, leaving them terrified in many cases, it was the time for great change, time to leave the nest, amen. Let the Spirit pour out he prayed, then paused. So many changes in so short a space in time, they ought to take notice now.

The Monday Appointment

The train ride, it’s not what you planned, the appointment, the day you got the news, there is something there, we have to investigate, suddenly all your plans are turned over, everything is in doubt. Meanwhile, there are those who pass you in the aisle, laughing and merry, probably going on vacation, perhaps to visit a friend, your thoughts are all in the past, the Spirit is low, faces come to mind, stuff you were involved with, your filled with a sense of dread, this could be the day you get the news, well, the news you can’t avoid, like death itself, it makes you think. In the past you stopped at shop windows, you’d look good in that…carefree, the only thing you notice, stuff all about yourself.

When faced with your time of earth, and how it could be cut short, anything can happen, remember the morning of 9/11, a normal Monday too, or any of the disasters, it does make one think, what if, would you do it different if you got the chance, or if you had a prayer, what would you include in it. Life is fragile, the human mind and heart is easily harmed, as the past has shown, so what would you do, if you were given the chance of a second life, an extension. In a world that seemed to be encouraging stuff that was dividing souls, what would you do to assist it’s recovery.

Then imagine, you have that choice every morning you wake up, to do something life giving.  This morning, as many make the journey, imagine it, your not on a life or death mission, wondering if the news will be good or bad, but on a journey of Hope, where you can decide to change a life.

The Women in Donald’s Life….

Frothing mouths, glee over the potential fall of “The Donald”, we are going to get rid of him, on both sides, the fixers and schemers assume it is going to be business as usual, the great divide, you have your half we’ll have ours, the trade off continues, and this time, there will be no mistakes online. Honey, I just read a report, what she says, she is doing her nails….

“ice problem in Greenland!”

“what!”

I can’t believe it she says, shouting, damn I missed a spot, she is after dabbing her skin with scarlet colored nail gloss.

“What!”

“where does he get the energy to do all that stuff!”

“Greenland honey!” he dabs his hearing aid into the ear, must get a new battery he sighs, she never listened anyway, they are on their way to an NRA gathering.

Greenland, who goes there anyway.

Meanwhile, while the experts prepare for the Next change, the children wake to their bullying phones, and get on with it, the younger ones, slaves to the desires of the older ones, while the adults play adult games, as if money will fix all problems.

Solomon sighed, he read the story Moses, and the visit to the mountain. The playground they called earth, was changing, he hoped they were listening. As for Donald as the women, who’d remember them in a year….
