My Idols

It’s such a recurring theme, Idols, we stop at a poster, we look up, wish it could be me the young say, wish you had more experience the wise say, Solomon read the old books, the theme of Idols was a constant theme, going back thousands of years, Moses, Solomon, Isaiah, Jesus too, Islam too, all of them in fact, mention the worship of Idols, and its’ still the case today; a TV program elects a president, the habits that are killing us, none of them, coming from the mouths of the prophets. Solomon sighed; there was a sense of wonder all about, the hearts of many were opening in a  way unthinkable a few years before; it was as if the Eureka moment had arrived, as if to say, it’s all true, God exists, glory be.

Imagine the space inside you, the Space where you create the space for the loving Spirit to dwell, horror to those doused in vanity perhaps, but manna to those who believe, the living words, how wonderful to assume, without doubts, that all those ancient stuff that many wanted to pour cold water on while they exploited others, was real, what a massive headache and clean up ahead. How could God be expected to compete with idol worship, it didn’t require a science or math degree to figure this one out.

Put your Trust in God, and may your actions express that trust. Amen.

Mothers and Our World

What we take for granted, well she is the one who always hangs around, the one voice we can turn to, as if God Himself was alive inside of everyone. The miracle of birth, and there are those who claim they have been put down, it’s usually those who have had to deal with pain, the grievances that have to find a way out. Solomon reflected, His Own Mother being a fine lady, the face that you could seek out without worry or care. Those were the days, and what child was afraid to tell his or her mother anything or ask for anything. I suppose it’s why there is such worship for the Mother of the Lord, the woman who bore Him.

Today, Solomon sighed, with a few tears, how there were many little ones, afraid or made fearful of telling their mother what needed to be said, the mountain of fears poured into the general media, getting a lodging place inside very delicate hearts, it was a mute point, missed by all the so called experts. If you are afraid to tell your mother, what happens to that stuff you need to let out from inside you. The media had over cooked itself, and sowed such harm, they needed to take a leaf out of Solomon’s book of wisdom, who was and is trusted by God, every word you speak will be used against you.

Even the online world had to ask itself, had it any responsibility, or did they all play the silent game, as if they were trying to avoid the truth. Solomon encountered the Great Spirit, no boast, just a reminder to all, the Kingdom of God is inside you, learn fast, amen.

Mind Porn

Sounds like the title of a book, Solomon listened to some, ideas grabbed off the internet, another loud mouth, the do’s and don’t of this and that, as if we didn’t know already, where are your children getting their ideas from. A friend plays a clip from a podcast, this is good, you have to listen, he heard it thirty years before, I suppose when the children are not doing the funny images thing, they switch over to a reasonable sounding voice, in order to fool the parents, so that’s what you are watching son. Solomon was reflecting on the covid epidemic, the world is turned over in a matter of days, the call to change, the environment begins to show signs of recovery, the air a little cleaner, meanwhile an asteroid misses the planet by inches, which would have totaled us all.

A new world, and quickly, Moses came back from the Holy Mountain, with the proverbial guarantee, God is with us he sighed, his heart full of joy, we have been saved. From a distance, he see’s the glittering statue, no no, he cries, they are back to their old habits, what have they done. Solomon sighed, we are in that sort of zone, we don’t want to repeat that again.

Saint Patrick, an ode to Yeats, Behan, Oscar wilde, and a host of others, the sages of the past…..

This is pulled from the archive, it’s the National day of Ireland, so in these times of trial, lets reminded ourselves all, of the struggles we have all got through….

The world is beautiful, Have you ever thought about it, the world that is, is it not beautiful in places. We call those places national parks, so many miles of ocean across all frontiers, touching each other in special places the way the sun used to be, and still is in those extra special spaces, now we get burned frozen or flooded instead, except of course for those special places, and the bank manager we wish him dead, the women and their faces we can’t stop looking, the hours spent grooming their façade well look at TV no frowns allowed can’t you tell, a little perfume on the hips lipstick on the lips, as mothers seek safe refuge to build a nest as well, then an heirloom arrives the result of love so they said, children of course keep on watching and waiting, it’s a show they’ve already heard, Disney shows written by old pro’s words they use children in the viewfinder, they used to call it inspiration, today they ration the dead, literally and bury them live on TV, I won the lottery the dredge is no more, no smart opinions to get high on, pure doesn’t give you headaches, it kills you instead, don’t tell Santa he said.
But it’s a pity really, having tossed so much of our future away, the consequence of pure greed that the poorest will pay for instead, they’ve cut back the bird crumbs this week I heard, poor crow, shot at three times dived bombed by a sparrow hawk, a busted wing he hung on, two miles up the road and he’d be fed, earthquake on the TV, the world is falling apart, live on TV of course, you’ve guessed it CNN they are the first to call to help, world latches on cameras roll on carelessly, footage is worth more when you’re dead, no point saving the sick across the world, cant get them together like a Spielberg movie, we’ll rely on old footage. Isn’t the world beautiful he said, the luck of the Irish they always said it was worth waiting for, amen. He said if they gave up the drink, shur they could do anything, well…

I’m a neighbor too

They,

hurry past the house, they know who lives there, the old lady is weird, they hurry their steps as they pass by. Inside their home, they bolt the doors, safe in doors, free from the world, the only thoughts, those they share with each other. The news, the story of a sickness, she thinks more anticeptic, he plans to wash more, they are a careful couple. Around the world, mortality is threatened, news of infection, not far from the attitude of those, who having wealth, are not into mixing with their poorer friends; they will only ask for help, don’t you know what they want. Neighbors.

Solomon sighed, a world threatened is a chance to develop new ways, or the return to old styles of caring. He recalled the truly great philanthropists, from the early 1900’s, the landmarks they left behind, the culture they encouraged, the gifts they gave to all, not selecting among the friends, a long time ago. maybe the new crisis, would encourage a new world outlook. Time was needed to size up the dirt that needed cleaning; did they really want their children to grow up stressed; as if they could do nothing.

Solomon recalled the night of the Spirit, the power of words that came with it; no power on earth could come close to it, amen. Neighbors, where were the borders, since we could reach out to every part of the world with our thoughts, thanks to the web.

Insight to the Corona Virus

Preparing for a journey, bags packed, you are heading down the stairs, you better hurry Jack, he misses a step, lands on the ground floor, full of energy, the energy that lifts, no need to worry, this is a time to relax, everyone light in mind, the usual worries abandoned, less anxiety better health.

She checks the window, peers into the street, has a habit of worrying. Getting older, the streets are not so safe, she watches the news, the nightly reports of crime, ensures she lives in a well guarded house, three locks on the front door, double bolts at the rear, she’d feel safer in an apartment block, with no back door.

Restriction in movement, the normal path is not safe, he takes the long way round, avoids the road block. Getting to the appointment is not easy, there is a border to cross, and it’s busy everyday, as the local inhabitants who live on the Palestinian side are made wait, he gets to his appointment on time, because he knows how to escape the patrols.

Market trader sits in his office, numb, his futures market has been wiped out and no one is keen to trade, after loosing his capital he has no place to move, the house mortgaged, who could predict the 1929 crash, and then the aftermath, while those with the means, exploited the weakness in the market and the loss of so much paper credit.

The world is running out of control, the fish are gasping for breath, the animals are moving from the forest, clean water is getting rarer by the day, children are unable to keep up their stress levels, there is a rise in depression everywhere, they need to slow down. A voice calls from the wilderness, listen to the words of the prophets it says.

Dante’s Comedy Divine, 2020

Angels are all around us, they watch us when we stand before the mirror, don’t be paranoid, you will encounter them in time and they have seen it all, how you pose, the twists before the mirror, how you grab the fat around your waste, the dirt in your ears, what you do with the garbage, what you really think of your friends, your likes dislikes, it’s not a secret, that’s in your mind, and the Spirit can access that when it wants, relax, you didn’t drop a bomb on any one or invade a country for wealth reasons, the example of Saul of the road to Damascus is there to encourage you, and those beams of light, it’s not that much of a mystery, relax, but I would recommend giving up the porn habits though, they can become you. So the angels are on the look out, children see this every day, don’t be alarmed, you are addicted to this world, most people are, like Madonna says, it’s a very material world, don’t panic, just imagine the view they have of the average life, if this interests you, read on, imagine the invisible audience, have a worlds view of what’s going on, and don’t worry when your on the loo, we all have to do that stuff, just wash your hands when your finished.

Inside the apartment, pretend you’re watching a movie, and if after the movie you have issues, get down on your knees and ask for help, you will be surprised how fast it will arrive. Once your heart starts working again, as intended, things happen that will surprise you. Whatever you do, don’t smirk too much.

No time to waste, I’m getting fat, watching TV

and all of that.

Bored, unable to handle reality, need a time out, TV, sit there like a zombie, and eat it all up, and plan to do the same tomorrow.

A sorbet for dessert sounds yummy, A chunk of rich fat for my tummy. Yums, a knock at the door, God it’s you, what did you call for.

And so the Story goes, I ask her in, she’s humble and polite.

TV Dinner I see, she says with delight. One click of her

Hand, the TV explodes. I gasp and wonder, what the hell

Is going on, half the world is starving while the other

Half wonders what they’d like to cook

(the image, what will the elders do about that, excuses)

So you might wonder, whoever is reading this, what the hell is going

On. Let me explain…

I’ve wondered the world over, for that one kind heart, that one person, who might help stop this crap. Children are exhausted, women feel like meat, men behave like second hand car salesmen, my girl won’t do that.

Writer, revolution, change merchant, defender of truth, I’ve come Across the worst and the best in less than a week. So while all of us hurry to our next important date, don’t forget the important details and the most important of fates, a face to face with the creator of the earth. I know this to be true; he walks the earth each day. Most of us are too busy to notice like. Will you put some diesel in the tank champ, I’m from limerick boy!!

None of us are going to change the world, but together we must try.

And as the blessings flow in places, don’t worry about vocation, life is one, from the start you have choices. If exploiting is how you see it, I’m sure now you are having panic attacks of sorts, well, what if, maybe, yes, it’s real, amen.

He rolls into the office, the headlines are on the desk, Mary brings his coffee in, anything else boss she says, he nods, a cursory roll of the hand, be off it says while I have a read through this. The lawyer took care of that, and they hired investigators too, totally clean he assumes, there were a few. it is still unsettling, even if it hasn’t reached his office yet, meanwhile, down at the parish office, they are discussing child welfare issues, raise your hands, in the house of whom, and in the name of whom, stuff that does not need answers, imagine it, a world created that had a bias towards men, and the problems it brought, same as giving an Austrian corporal a mega phone, when the nation was suffering, suffering for what, wasn’t it the industrial behemoths that ended the war, not the soldiers themselves, winner the spoils, only gave rise to serious resentment, and opportunity to extremists, the others worn out after such a struggle with fate. Human ingenuity, no prizes for guessing, just add in the unseen made real, no books either, no platitudes, heard them all, of course I know, you support Spirit, you never stop reminding everyone, be glad, someone listens.

The jet encounters engine trouble, a few stomach churning moments, calm again, you wonder if it’s a warning, do you believe in serendipity, those lies you convinced yourself with, don’t have the same hold anymore, hasn’t caught everyone, not the way you hoped.

The new gizmo’s, can’t keep up with them, technology is moving too fast, the brain is not wired for this speed of thought, the income has to flow, otherwise no expansion plans, probably worried to hire, you remember your own ambitions, they will get rid of you, when the time comes, but being experienced, you plan an exit that looks good on paper.

Who will distract you next, the use of chemicals is ongoing, how long will they continue to be affective, they will figure out another, give her a call, that takes care of the afternoon, the days pass, the new recruit has a handle on it, one of those, yes boss types. No imagination, follows orders, he will be the go to man, you just give him instructions, as if you’re a retiring boss, haven’t seen the wife for awhile, how patient she is now, before she was a nuisance, imagine putting your children before success, unthinkable. The conscience begins to unfurl.

The Residue

Leftovers on the table, he eyes the last two roast potatoes, if they are all ignoring it, that means none of them wants it, they taste great, he scans the plates on either side, all he can see is the conversations going on, the lick of gravy on the side of the mouth, clean it will you, it’s sticking out, across the table, a fork in the air, moving left and right, almost with the skill of an orchestral director, still he has his eyes on the prize, those last two golden crisp potatoes. Will I be brave and reach out.

What are you waiting for William she says, catching his eye, he dips his head, a smile on his face, he slowly reaches in, got you he thinks, he has one of the potatoes on the big spoon, he is moving it carefully to his docking station, his plate. No one said a thing, will he be brave enough to take the other, go for it he tells himself. Eight years old, it’s awhile before you learn about the etiquette of eating in a group. She gives him a re assuring nod, the second potato is on the spoon. You are not eating both of them another diner calls out, as he drops it onto the messiest part of the plate, where old flecks of gravy and a white sauce have mixed into a brown mulch, he does it deliberately, no one will ask for the potato back now, too late, all that residue.

Solomon sighed, we learn hopefully, we lean on the past, we see how nationalism becomes a movement of hatred, the wars across the world, home led, the same causes, repeated again and again, too much power in the same closet, time to get angry, time to get rich, we will sort them boy. The world had enough of all that argument, it was well past it’s sell by date, same as those religions, who intentionally miss quoted the old words, in order to divide opinion, and what was their residue; the incitement of hatred.

Surely they believe in God he hoped, and as such, put their efforts into rising spirits, rather than renovating old organisations.

World Slows Down

Can’t sound it, sound, action to her, affects inner harmony, will I get up, she glances at her I-phone. To others it seems extravagant, to her its a diagnostic tool, she’s a trainee. Irritating, will I. Her shift starts in, she dips her eyes on the phone, she is precise, a trainee surgeon, doing the steps. Her fingers are long and graceful. Where they have been; last evening, inside the chest of an elderly man, noise disappears, music again, continues reading. She lives in a three room, ignoring the bathroom; everyone has one of those, as vital as a healthy rectum, a healthy mind, the article she is reading.

She reads the reports, everything medical is her news, her life is being donated to helping others, if lucky she will have a family along the way. The Corona Virus, she had been reading about it; a virus that doesn’t react to conventional drugs. She thinks of Marie Curie, all the other scientists, who spent their entire lives researching the future; few of them had any interest in patents. Planes have slowed, people are staying away from crowded places, some wear masks, they’ve been doing that in Hong Kong for ages; some call it the the last plague. She sighs; as a woman, she wants to be seen as a mother in the making, a precious human being; she is tired of the way they trivialized the flesh, could they not have learned to love a little more. She takes a deep breath, the operation she has in front of her is her first full heart transplant, she assisting. Calm, slow, her hands are so important.

In an office, a whiz kid press’s the buttons, moves funds from the Cayman’s to Cypress. He loves it when it”s uncertain, so many to take advantage of.

Technogenics

Technogenics, well how else do you describe it. James hadn’t heard the word, it wasn’t far from eugenics, but with a technical twist. The modern world was good AT coming up with new words to explain things; there was texteese of course, the new form of short hand, twittereese, short version twitter, and there were the different ways your interests were fished; was that the right term, fishing, or was it a word used to describe theft online, hard to say, in a nutshell the more we know about you the better we can help you, or if your a robber, the more we know about you the easier it is to rob you, perspective of the thief, and in a world where, technology allows for the easy theft of resources from other human beings, Solomon thought that a NEW TERM be devised, to explain this new phenomenon; dare we say, Technogenics.

If you lose your instincts to think, you stop thinking, if a machine does all those all your thinking for you, you lose you ability to think; it’s all connected. The doomy gloomies would blame the techy companies; but wasn’t it just a case of pure laziness on the part

of the consumer, who wanted a simpler life and more time for other things?.
