The prophets of old, the words of Jesus, written many times, the day is unknown, the hour, but when it happens, the great change, it will be instant, the light of God will be all the religion they will need. In a nutshell sighed Solomon, rather than dwell on what divides so many believers, who not focus on what we have in common, and work back, love God first, and it will all work out. Not bad trying to figure out your purpose on earth, amen.
“Imagine it, your thoughts can be used to remedy, heal, improve, restrict demons, curtail extremism, and an awful lot more, while being still able to enjoy a nice glass of wine, not forgetting the simple things, the peace of mind that good sleep brings, imagine, those demons of the night, they can do nothing, simply aware, of the future that awaits them, and being merciful, at least they get the opportunity to amend, and it’s all real.”
“Are you for real she says”, interrupting his flow. I only asked him about the book he was reading, she didn’t expect a thesis.
They are sitting side by side on the Jet, they are both flying across the ocean, strangers, she had asked a question about a book he was reading, “the imitation of life according to Jesus”. It’s a five hour flight, and he reminds her of someone from her past. She does not fear asking questions. Well, if he is reading a book about “Jesus”, he has to be friendly and easy to open a dialogue with, she hopes. Her own trust in the world is on a downer, divorced, discarded, dumped, thrown overboard, at a loose end, she is looking for the light. She’s been in this frame of mind all day, the journey she is making, a rest and escape from it all.
You don’t believe he says with a smile. Her eyes rise in her head, she looks at the ceiling, if only he knew she thinks. Dumping her stuff on a stranger, who wants to hear about other peoples woes. She purses her lips, half looks at the book cover, then begins to speak.
“If he was so right way back then, it seems he has disappeared don’t you think,” she lowers her eyes to the book.
Jesus she says again. He smiles, it’s catching isn’t it he smiles. The more you think of the Holy Name, the memories and feelings that are created. Well she says, you seem confident about it, can you explain it simply for me. He hums and haws. No one want’s to be a bad teacher, and not every question can be answered as if it’s coming from a machine or robot.
His tongue swirls around his mouth, he catches the scent of her perfume, it makes his nose itchy, he reaches up and rubs his nose.
“Spirit he says, it’s inside you, and there is the Spirit of God, that stuff you call the soul. If you imagine your soul as a new computer, without scratches, then years later, used, with a few cuts and smears, after years of usage, when you are prepared to put it in the rubbish, you might call it a journey. Life is like that disc. What condition is it in at the end of the journey when it’s returned to the original vendor, do you get me he says.”
She is confused, she is trying to get her head around it. Who wants a philosophy lesson on a mid Atlantic flight. Computer discs, souls, the condition at the end, she is thinking all these bits. He looks at her, can see that she is digesting what he has said, waits.
Confusing he says, she pauses, well, it’s not what I expected. The air hostess is passing with the trolley. Can I have a gin and tonic he says, and yourself he says. Non drinker she says.
She listens to the crackle of the ice, as the liquid flows over the ice. He listens and talks well, she wonders how long the flight is, there are many questions she wants answers to. Being an achiever all her life, this conversation is something she does not want to miss. Her Heart feels lighter, that name she sighs, Jesus.
The yeast in the mixture, the smile on your face, could it be that easy you ask. The glance across the office, that says it’s okay, we got over it, you can approach me and ask, the fear that is dismissed with eye contact, what’s the worry, the sincere expression that cannot be faked, when it’s real its’ real. the role of every life, Spirit raising, assumes that there is somebody more important that yourself in the room. The child comes home, the shoulders are shrunk, the child is worried, the mother knows immediately, what’s wrong she says, the child is not afraid, he slowly tells the story, in a minute he is feeling all right.
Imagine, Solomon sighed, it was a hard emotion, the small friend who can’t explain it, the fear that his phone hides, the worries of the bigger ones, the fear that is trapped and can’t get out. Solomon was sending the reminder to himself, those who were left behind while those who built themselves kingdoms thought it was all right. the toe rag mentality was a mind set of those of arrogant disposition, he had encountered them regularly, so he warned them about the Spirit, well, it was possibly the best news possible since the days of old, God is real, I have seen the Spirit, watch this space, amen.
Solomon smiled, it was passing on the Spirit, it was just an every day thing, no idols, amen.
The old geezer in the corner, chortles, he is having a good laugh, this is real. A visitor is scheduled to see him, always brings some bootleg, well, a sniff of real grass, the stuff that opens the senses, allows you to smell, better than snuff, sweeter too, probably great for all sorts of nasal blockages, medical world of old not a fan of it, can’t replicate that unique smell, like breathing in sweetened air, only better, purely natural.
The old folks home, warm in winter, a safe haven, staff extraordinarily kind. Amo feels so good, he feels sometimes like he rules the world. Well we all smell at times, who doesn’t, as for all that chemical stuff they use to stifle those smells, it’s as if they are trying to vaporize the entire planet, a selection of them in every home, wind safe, no air movement at all, does anyone get it, they are living in their own incubators. As for Amo, he doesn’t give a fart, lets off quite a few, but that’s natural considering his age, ask Jack, (nicholson) he will tell you all about them. As for Amo, just a whiff of sweet marijuana and he’s running through a meadow again, not that he smokes or anything, that’s what the young ones do, amen.
Solomon sighed, he recalls his old friend, how his Spirit was awoken by that sweet aroma, that science can’t imitate, every time he got a scent of it. Reminded him of that Movie, Al all peace Pacino, scent of the blueberry, what a story that was, or was it strawberry, they smell great too, legal cause you can eat them I suppose, amen.
Look at the screen Bob, the world is imploding before our very eyes, Bob shakes his head, it’s cold and wet, and they are standing outside looking in, outside a TV store, they’ve lost their way sometime back, both veterans of the Desert Wars, look what it’s done.
Are you looking forward to Christmas, she wants a smile from the kid, she is visiting a friend, if she gets a smile she’ll feel good as if she’s done something, wont you smile for me she says, all he see’s is her double chin and those thick lens glasses, what have you to smile about he thinks.
Bob and Jim walk to the shelter, it’s a mid week day, so there should be no trouble getting in, Jim is on about the end of the world, Bob wants a warm meal and a bed, doesn’t it concern you he says, passing another TV store, slowing to have a look, what are we going to do about it then!
A concert for the victims, the line of script runs across the screen, a hundred different stars have already signed up, Bob shakes his head, how many ever went to war, they give what they don’t need nothing more, hear about Cindy he asks, you mean the young mother with the three year old kid?
Chaos in Italy too Bob, they are after seizing that rescue ship, Jim frowns, what is that old fool talking of, Italy Bob, the one that was rescuing the drowning people and giving them the medical help, you mean they set up a veterans hospital in the med, what are our navy doing.
Shelters, causes, big concerts, zealots, poor Cindy was waiting in the shelter, imagine, with a child too, she goes out one day and this guy comes over, hands her a ticket, next thing she wins the lottery. A car pulls up at the kerb, Bob looks down, thinks it’s the police, there is a no loitering sign…
The window rolls down, what are you waiting for, It’s Cindy they smile… what about the shelter, the others…
Let us in, the emigrants roar, let us out the voice soars, where’s my candy shouts Donald, are they listening, who communicates in sound bytes, and thinks it’s communication, it’s the same as a cattle driver whipping up the sheep. So many strings being pulled, the markets in turmoil, insider information being used, just trying to fool us all. you can’t dress like that, what did you expect, if I go out like you, everyone will ignore me, catch 22, who is going to sort out this. Books, the wisdom within, and the pressure from social media, that fills your head, where will you get the space. By the time you figure it out, you’ll be in your seventies, meanwhile they will be all laughing at you, why did you bother.
Solomon sighed, where was simplicity, so many ways to get rich, it’s usually a case of using others, sometimes it’s talent and skill. There had been great events, Miracles, the unexplained happenings in the Sky, world leaders talking gibberish, just like one of those comic movies, who could believe it. Feed the thirsty, look after the aged and widows, care for children, don’t be greedy, and be kind to your neighbor and don’t judge, the wisdom of Love, do these things and God will be there too. Instead, ego’s chasing the headlines, sorrowful outpourings that will be non stories within a day, it’s a world going crazy sighed Solomon, in other places, not at home. The number of great wonders pointed out to great happenings in the Heavens, remain firm he sighed, it was all happening as said in the ancient texts, amen.
Getting ready to have the last breath of this world, preparing for the graduation ceremony, you feel the heat, there is a slight panic, you are nervous of course, you have been practicing for this moment all your life, the beats intensify, the moment is near, what will the first question be, you go through the check list ,pass that one, won’t answer the section on charity, give the envy part a miss, you are running out of options, only because you are nervous, but you have been a good student all your life, bing, the machine goes dead, your in forever land, the land is green, there is brightness in one part, you see your friends who passed the test, over in the other corner, those you want to forget, some who wanted to forgive, did i pass the test. St Peter opens the Gate, he scans your soul, what state is it in, did you learn anything he asks, why you ask a question like that, Peter shakes the head, didn’t they tell you, life is a learning experience, not a day trip. You can’t find your voice, but it doesn’t matter, the scan is going fine, no major cracks on the disk, at least they can make sense of it. From around the corner a voice calls out, did you find one
yet, Peter turns his shoulder, not yet, but it’s getting closer. The pearly gates moment, what a day, amen.
