Give Me Shelter from my fears…

What was there to hang on to, what was there to worry about, she was being moved on again, the lady in the old gray coat. Her dreams were years ago she can hardly remember, but she held on as long as she was made to, then decided to throw it all out. The bags are stuffed full, she pushes the trolley, her sleeves rolled up, its not that cold, besides you get used to it, she sighs. Those arms were so smooth once she remembers, then again, so they, did any of her friends remember, hardly.

Passed on the street, she snarls under her breath, they are looking at me, she would she says to herself, as if her life was all that mattered, and it did, but that was part of the disease, she walks up the steps of the great cathedral, there is always comfort there, and all of a sudden she wakes up, reaches out her hand, and feels him beside her; just a dream he sighs as he holds her close to his side. He gave her shelter from her fears, she remembers,

amen.

Old Man Christmas

The days close in on the main event, and the visitors are on their way, friends and relatives we haven’t seen for a while, including the “old man”, will be showing up. Last preparations, runs to the store, the gathering of wood, it is all getting prepared. I have met many, and many had met him, but it was the “old man”, who told the best stories. Every night over the Christmas period, he used to read us stories, from his head, the story of the turkey with the three heads, the most entertaining one of all. He had problems with his eyesight, didn’t know where to look!

What was the reason I remember the “old man”. why did others slip from memory, it was one of those questions that is not easy to answer, I suppose when you are small, it’s the great tales you recall as you get older, and the “old man”, well, he loved telling them. I realize now, many years older, and hopefully wiser, he was just passing the tradition on, a bit like Christmas itself, a reminder of other things, amen.

“and there was a slice of bacon for dinner and gravy if we were lucky!”

“did they do dessert?” asked siobhan, her face down

We would always fall asleep before the end. Isn’t that the great thing about a good story, it just lives on, with the help of the “old man”, of course.

Dream It!

The congregation was thin, and the empty aisles were bare, he thought if it was himself, was it something he had done, was there a reason. He was dwelling on the day, he wondered if what the young man had said to him, you have to make it interesting, the boy was animated when he spoke, had a thirst for news, the news that changed lives. Interesting, what he had been doing for forty years was more than interesting, it was the spreading of the word, he was getting old though

, tiredness of the spirit was setting in. Many of his friends, had retired, he was one of the older ones with the zest, he had more to give yet. He washes at the basin, watches his reflection in the mirror, what would you do he said as if speaking with his Spiritual self. He let the thought remain in his consciousness as he finished the nightly routine, interesting he sighed, I’m only one man he cried.

Fill the aisles with flowers, what do you mean said the young man, taking orders from the older man. Flowers, we want to make them feel they are in the field of the lord and not some building, atmosphere. There was a van full of multi colored garlands, a gift from a benefactor, they were an over supply from a wedding that got cancelled at the last moment, he dresses the aisle, running the garlands over the oak timbers. The band members are coming up the street, it’s three in the morning, they are on the way home. They notice the commotion at the door of the church, they notice that the door is open, lights are on, but nobody on sight. They stop, they are about to report the matter to the local police, when the young man emerges from the church, a garland in hand, one too many.

The band members listen to his story, the pastor wants to liven things up, and get the Spirit moving so he is redecorating the church!

At three in the morning says one of the members of the band, a big fella, with long sideburns, he looks like Neil Young.

The priest exists the church, where is he gone, where did the helper go! He spots the group outside, the band members he recognizes, they are a famous group. Just when I was worried about the music he sighed looking up. If this doesn’t move the Spirit, nothing else will. He wonders where to stand them when the church has it’s next gathering, on the altar or to the side, he is not worried about them being heard, half the world knows who they are.

The old priest wakes from his dream, it’s seven in the morning, he is refreshed, an idea hits him, communication communication he smiles, did I dream that as well?

The Idol

She gushes, he is her hero, she plays his music, listens to the words, they have meaning, he has a good writing partner, it’s not him, he just relays the music, a fountain of creativity, no, just a mouth piece who can sing, does that sound cold.

Solomon imagined, what the words meant, there are no idols, there is simply One Loving God, that’s the deal. She is in tears, her idol got married the other day, and is going to have children with a different woman, not her. Millions will be devastated, but after a good cry, they will find another idol, and worship him instead.

Jesus, words of wisdom, don’t put your idols on platforms or stands, why, (humour), in all probability, they will leave you for someone else.

Unhinge Me….

The old man warned him in advance, “well Paddy I am a surprise for them if that’s the case!”, Solomon listened to his old friend, in his 80th year, pass on the wisdom, he said it again. The old man had heard the stories about the demons, had proof few knew about. Solomon listened carefully. The one thing he didn’t tell the old man, the visit of the great spirit, he was setting a trap for them.

Them were now flying across the Atlantic with no cargo door on the plane, the hinges on the door having failed; Solomon had prayed, let they become victims of their own treachery, amen.

Head Change

Empty, re load, begin again, a new day, reload begin again, the night comes, the rest, the day begins again, we start the process over, along with the baggage we collected, trying to sift through the debris, because debris is what it is, we just sift it, for the sake of change.

Solomon was reminded, was daily reminded, about the power of Great Spirit, and why the words of the Eternal Prophet would never fail: don’t collect the baggage, sift and get rid of the junk, same as said all those years ago. The teaching of old had been misused and abused, with ceremony created to make sense of the misunderstanding; it was the same as putting an extra tire on a four wheel car, what is the fifth one for, it is not supposed to be on the car, it is just a helper in the case of a break down.

For years they have been trying to understand the true meaning of the words, why were the words spoken in the first place; forgiveness and access to

Love was the same thing, you don’t give demons a leg to hold onto, let the baggage go and watch the life soar. Demons had to feed on the excess of human kind, while love needed love to survive.

Solomon read the miracle work carried out by an outsider to the established churches, at a time when the major churches had admitted the era of the miraculous had ceased. Solomon encountered that healing Spirit, his only question was, where did that Spirit go for all those years. It was time for head change, and for the truth to be known; God is inside you, thereby, don’t fill the head with useless filler that keeps you busy, head change required.
