High Noon

slow walk across the sandy stone roadway street

apprehension in all the eyes that you meet,

there’s that look in his eye seen it before,

was asking for something and boy what a chore!

the door opens he slowly steps into the hall,

the preacher slows the gathering turns around,

the sheep there fined it a great community,

there’s a plague coming he says all calm,

his eyes cross the room stare down at floor,

what do you expect us to do sheriff, really!

turns his head at the stone in their response,

that some of you cared about children that’s all,

i actually assumed you meant all those words,

fool me to believe same as it always was,
